EVALUATION: Question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? In order to create the final music products, I heavily used digital technology. Digital technology was the basis of what I used and what helped me create the digital package, the music video and the advert. It helped me create several edits for the music video in a couple hours, it allowed me to explore other real music videos and it even allowed me to explore other production techniques such as one cut filming and editing. Many websites such as YouTube, Blogger, Prezi and SlideShare allowed me to share so much information and create short presentations that helped me research the music industry and many other things I needed to know before I started editing and creating the music products. Many of these websites, applications and computer software allowed me to edit and create content and edits on the go without any fuss or mess. I was able to edit my photos for the digipack on

What have you learned from your audience feedback? We based most of our design moves on our audience feedback. At the beginning of the creation of our products, we did an initial focus group just to see where our audience stood within the spectrum of colour, doodles and concepts. My partner asked them many questions and listened closely to their responses and considered those we began to plan what we wanted to do and where we were headed. Through making big decision my partner and I always turned to our audience to ask the what we could do and what they found was more effective and satisfying to watch because ultimately, they are the consumers and if the consumers are unhappy the product wonts sell. Their opinion mattered massively to us.  We received many positive, encouraging comments throughout the process of creating all of the final productions. From teachers giving us feedback to peers walking it the editing studio and seeing buts of the video we received tons of positi

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? During the creation of all our music video productions, we considered each aspect of each product in every decision made towards each product. Creating a brand identity was very important to us as it was the basis of how we related each other our products to each other. During the editing process of the music video my partner heavily concentrated on the typeface of the video as she thought that it would be best if the typeface of the video and the typeface of the album cover and the advert where the same therefore we had to find a typeface that matched all three of those while still displaying the aesthetic look that we wanted and the message we wanted for our audience. Throughout the entire production process al three aspects were considered. All the way through the production process we created a brand identity for the three productions. We created a mood and a feeling for the three productions that corre

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media productions? During the process of learning about codes and conventions of music videos, all the media theorists and in analysing music videos I learnt a lot about how a music video is made and how they are constructed. This greatly helped me come up with ideas and concepts and objectives I wanted to reach in my own music video. Through learning about these theorists, I began to understand how the technical side of filmmaking works and I began to understand how this industry works and how it can be manipulated to suit certain agenda. The opening scene of that addresses mental health Learning about theorists such as Roland Barthes and Levi Strauss gave me insight on how media has developed over the years and how its still developing with contemporary theorists such as Laura Mulvey and Tzvetan Todorov. So many of these theories discuss societal issues and imbalances that we as so

FINAL Music Video Focus Group

FINAL: Focus Group DISCLAIMER: I was not present in during activity. If I had been part of this activity I would have liked to have asked: What do you think of the doodles and how they worked together with the video and the lyrics? Did the doodles affect you or make you feel a certain way? How did they make you feel? Did you identify with the model used in the video? Why, what was it about her that made you identify with her? What did you think of the concept/ narrative of the music video? Do you believe it worked with the song and the lyrics of the song? Why?   At the end of the video, what was the message you got out of this music video? Did you feel fulfilled at the end of the video? … in addition to the questions asked by my partner.  The reason I would have wanted to ask these questions is because when I was creating my edit of our music video I came across many questions, such as, how do I want my audience to feel about this
