Music Video: Edit 3

In this edit, my partner reverted to the footage and altered some segments replacing them with some footage we had of our model lip singing some of the song. I believe this worked quite well as it looks more personal and relatable. All of the lines that she lip-sings are quite memorable too, therefore, attracting the audience to sing with them. This is quite a convenient feature of the music video as it makes it relatable and makes the model look more approachable. My partner and I also quite enjoy music videos that feature bits that are lip sung too.

J Cole  – False Prophets - J Coles video for his song “False Prophets” is performed in a very informal way, basically walking through his day showing us, the viewers, a day in his life, in his neighborhood surrounded by everyday encounters. It's filmed in a loose, shaky way as if it were filmed by an amateur. At the beginning of this video the artist, J Cole, is sat on the seat of a bus stop watching out for the bus. The environment he is surrounded by seems familiar according to his calm and natural attitude. The cutaway shots between when Cole raps towards the camera show snippets of children playing, men sitting outside a corner shop, people we suppose he would see on a day to day walk in his neighborhood, we see him taking pictures with fans, standing to rapping outside a house that seems familiar to him. Mushaboom – Feist (Music Video) In this first attempt at making a full music video learned a lot. I learned: - when to queue a transition and how to add the correct transition - how to edit videos so that it looks like they were all filmed with the same lighting and effects - to match stop in the song to transitions, and finally - to always plan before filing a music video. For this video, we filmed at various locations around London, more specifically Warren Street. it was around 4.30pm in February resulting in an early sunset so when we filmed it was beginning to get dark. by the end of it, the sky was pitch black. Before we met up to film we asked our model to wear dark clothing with a pop of colour with hair braided in one way or another. She kindly agreed, and the look tied in perfectly with the settings we had planned to visit. The reason we asked her to braid her hair was to add an element of culture to the character that we wanted to create.

Planning: The Process of Picking Songs

In the process of my partner and I choosing a song to make our music video to we went through a lot of potential songs. We started off by listing all our favourite songs. after that we swapped list and chose our top three out of each list and narrowed it down from there.
