Copyright Permission Letter

Dear Copyright Holder,

I am an A Level student and I am writing to request your permission to use one of the latest tracks by Chance The Rapper. The track we wish to use is All Night (ft. Knox Fortune).

With your permission, this track would be used in my current A-level media studies project, which involves creating a music video to a pop music track, as well as producing an album and a magazine advert for the artist.

If I received your permission, this track would only be used in an educational context and be viewed by our media class, our teacher and the OCR exam board monitor. It would not be released to a large audience.

The artist and your company would, of course, be fully recognised throughout pre-production and the final video itself. A copyright notice with wording supplied by you can be included in the records of the project. If this is required, please send full details.

J Cole  – False Prophets - J Coles video for his song “False Prophets” is performed in a very informal way, basically walking through his day showing us, the viewers, a day in his life, in his neighborhood surrounded by everyday encounters. It's filmed in a loose, shaky way as if it were filmed by an amateur. At the beginning of this video the artist, J Cole, is sat on the seat of a bus stop watching out for the bus. The environment he is surrounded by seems familiar according to his calm and natural attitude. Mushaboom – Feist (Music Video) In this first attempt at making a full music video learned a lot. I learned: - when to queue a transition and how to add the correct transition - how to edit videos so that it looks like they were all filmed with the same lighting and effects - to match stop in the song to transitions, and finally - to always plan before filing a music video. For this video, we filmed at various locations around London, more specifically Warren Street. it was around 4.30pm in February resulting in an early sunset so when we filmed it was beginning to get dark. by the end of it, the sky was pitch black. Before we met up to film we asked our model to wear dark clothing with a pop of colour with hair braided in one way or another. She kindly agreed, and the look tied in perfectly with the settings we had planned to visit. The reason we asked her to braid her hair was to add an element of culture to the character that we wanted to create.

Planning: The Process of Picking Songs

In the process of my partner and I choosing a song to make our music video to we went through a lot of potential songs. We started off by listing all our favourite songs. after that we swapped list and chose our top three out of each list and narrowed it down from there.
